Forward Service Corporation (FSC), a passionate, not-for-profit firm that strives to provide exceptional customer service in employment and training related services to local, state and federally funded program participants. Our non-profit firm is seeking one full-time WIOA Career Service Specialist to help those we serve achieve their dreams. The home office is located in Niagara, WI

This position provides individual and/or group services to assist youth and adults in achieving effective work experience, work readiness skills, and job skills training. This position will be responsible for using the Transition to Success model, developed by Dr Marcella Wilson, to Map the Dreams of our participants by utilizing the Map of My Dreams workbook. A Career Service Specialist is responsible for understanding the needs of our customers, along with developing, creating, and implementing services to meet those needs. The Career Service Specialist provides these services through mentoring, assessment and supervision of youth or adults participating in the WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) Program. This individual is responsible for outreach services to community partners and local schools, creating job leads, and placement opportunities for program participants. They will also make referrals to work experience sites. Experience motivating, teaching, and preparing individuals for post-secondary education and/or work is essential.

PRIMARY DUTIES INCLUDE

  • Maintains an active caseload providing individual and/or group case management to assist individuals in achieving effective personal, educational and/or vocational goals. Responsible for maintaining customer and program records in a safe and secure manner.
  • Identify and monitor shifts and trends in the local labor market and adjust services accordingly to assist customers in achieving employment in areas of demand occupations.
  • Well-qualified candidates will possess the ability to network, recruit, and retain potential program participants.
  • Career Services Specialists are responsible for creating an employment plan to meet participant goals, as identified through the assessment process, and appropriately documenting action steps.
  • Under the youth program, this position will provide services to the Independent Living Program or those youth that are aging out of foster care.
  • Assessment of individuals’ basic skills levels; occupational skills; prior work experience; employability; interests and aptitudes; areas of strength; developmental needs; and service needs, including supportive services
  • Responsible for determining eligibility for WIOA services, conducting comprehensive needs assessments, and motivating participants towards their transition to success.
  • Responsible for achieving specific recruiting benchmarks within the required target populations to achieve and exceed program performance standards.
  • Potential outreach opportunities include Chamber of Commerce events, business services meetings, grand openings, business open houses and Economic Development forums.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE*
Associates degree and two plus years work-related experience and/or equivalent combination or education and experience.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS*
We offer a competitive wage for this full-time, non-exempt position with a starting rate of $22.80/hour with additional compensation based on experience beyond the minimum requirement. In addition to compensation, we have an excellent benefits package, including Health, Dental, Vision, Disability (employer-paid benefit), Basic Life and AD&D (employer-paid benefit), 6% 401k match (with no vesting period), Paid Time Off (accruing up to 20 days in the first 12 months) and 12 Paid Holidays.
