Position: Director of Pricing Analytics

Job Description:

The Director of Pricing Analytics is responsible for the strategic vision and leadership for the team, producing analytics reporting for all Forward lines of business and markets. This team will be an important contributor to the LTL Pricing department, identifying areas of opportunity within the LTL business as a whole, and within individual Customers. The team will develop proactive analytics that can be used to guide future pricing strategies, and produce post-implementation analytics to determine performance.  This is a player-coach role – producing reports and helping to implement the recommendations is expected.

Core Responsibilities & Duties:

• Establish metrics and conducts analysis to understand and manage performance levels against operational key performance indicators (KPI’s) and company expectations
• Provide leadership for the Pricing Analytics department with vision for future growth
• Develop, implement and maintain standard operational procedures (SOP’s) to ensure consistent pricing across all customer accounts
• Strong understanding of data and analytics; particularly related to pricing initiatives including price elasticity
• Understanding of the best-in-class pricing tools and analytics – including ML and AI models
• Lead the continued development and evolution of the data that Forward collects and analyzes for pricing, produce analytical reports while the team is being built.
• Manage continuous improvement processes and initiatives
• Develop, train and motivate a team to reach business unit goals
• Coordinate operations with all other business unit departments, divisions and groups within the enterprise
• Ensure employees and managers are trained and operationally effective, makes hiring decisions, manage performance reviews, provide coaching/mentoring to employees to resolve conflicts and communication problems and proactively promote and support cross team collaboration
• Responsible for working with company sales management on new business development initiatives
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree with typically 12 years of relevant experience in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics or Business.      Alternatively, Master's degree with 10 years of relevant experience, MBA preferred.
• Ability to provide mentorship to junior-level teammates and cross-functional partners
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to translate findings into actionable solutions and processes.  Prior experience with  logistics industry and logistics data is highly desired
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong leadership and planning ability
• Must have the ability to prioritize workload and manage time remotely
• Identifies and resolves problems, with demonstrated attention to detail
• Identifies opportunities to increase accuracy and optimize resources and develops/recommends/implements solutions
• Excellent negotiation skills to deal effectively with individuals and groups within and outside the organization
• Provides timely and professional support to all internal and external customers
• Proven leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively supervise, coach and influence employees

Skills:

• Ideal candidate will possess a “can do” attitude with a “will do” work ethic
• Experience with analyzing big data sets via data structuring and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, Tableau, PowerBI, Python, R, etc.)
• Strong analytical skills with ability to derive actionable business insights from large data sets
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong presentation skills to senior audience members
• Exceptional organizational skills with ability to manage multiple, complex projects at once with minimal guidance
