SUMMARY:
Responsible for the successful overall daily operations of the Security Department, in accordance with established property policies, procedures and objectives, as well as guidelines set out by the Vice President Security.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Makes suggestions and recommendations, as appropriate, for the internal security of specific operations and departments on property.
  • Ensures the quality of operations in all areas of the Security Department.
  • Enforces performance standards within department.
  • Supervises security-related activities on property, to ensure that all applicable laws, rules, regulations, internal controls, as well as OSHA and the Gaming Commission regulations are enforced throughout the property.
  • Manages investigations conducted by the Security Department.
  • Investigates any losses that may or may not have been a result of criminal actions, and reports results to the appropriate entity.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective security force for the protection and safety of guests, employees, and casino assets.
  • Implements a strategy for the protection of life and property.
  • Authorizes security clearance and/or access to sensitive areas of the property, in the absence of the VP Security.
  • Maintains adequate staffing levels in the Security Department by interviewing, selecting, training, scheduling, evaluating, promoting, disciplining and terminating employees as needed.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with various members of the business community (i.e. Gaming Commission, Police Department, Sheriff's Department, Fire Department).
  • Reviews departmental reports, addressing potential conflicts and/or misinformation.
  • Ensures a maximum level of guest service and satisfaction throughout the property is achieved and maintained.
  • Facilitates the flow of information throughout the property, by organizing and presiding over regularly scheduled meetings with all security employees.
  • Held accountable, to a high degree, for the accuracy and thoroughness of departmental records and reports.
  • Routinely tours and inspects the property, identifying potential safety hazards, and reporting same to the appropriate person, for proper resolution.
  • Plans growth opportunities for those employees who display the necessary skills, motivation and attitude to progress within the property.
  • Directs the overall operations of the Security Department in the absence of the Vice President Security.
  • Chairs the monthly property-wide safety committee meetings and ensures active participation by all departments.
  • Works closely with the Security First Responders to ensure certifications are current and training is on-going
  • In conjunction with Facilities Department, conducts a weekly inspection of the entire property and notes any safety concerns or unsafe conditions.
  • Submits work orders to Facilities for repair and/or attention to any unsafe conditions. Follows up and ensures work orders are completed.
  • Audits MSDS materials in each department to ensure compliance and availability and, as necessary, conducts any needed training for employees. Ensures that all OSHA materials are available.
  • Assists with investigating employee and guests incidents and injuries and determines probable cause and remedies

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises the Security Operations Manager. Indirectly supervises all Security Department employees.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or law enforcement, or four to six years related Casino experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Five (5) years experience in law enforcement, with progressive supervisory/managerial experience required. Must possess excellent communication skills.
This position requires a Level 2 Gaming License.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex of documents, such as technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to write effective letters, memos, speeches. and articles for publication. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from staff members at all levels, guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one, small group, and large group settings. Ability to effectively present information to top management and public groups.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
