Sewing Supervisor
This individual supports the production manager to implement and oversee the day-to-day requirements of the production roadmap. The Sewing Supervisor collaborates with the technical design team to advise on product construction methods, trains the sewing team on the specifications of the tech pack and project, oversees the day-to-day production process and monitors quality assurance. The Supervisor ensures that staff have the capacity, skill, and equipment necessary to meet the specs of each project.
Essential Job Functions:
Garment construction preparation
- Collaborates with technical design team to build team consensus around consistent product construction methods and terminology.
- Contributes to the creation of tech pack by articulating the order of operations for garment construction and sewing instructions.
Garment production
- Executes floor plan based on production specifications.
- Demonstrates the essentials of the tech pack to ensure that sewing team understands and are skilled on each step.
- Daily supervision of production: Provides technical support, coaching, and troubleshooting to the sewing team throughout the production process.
- Measuring and setting daily quotas and production standards.
- Participates in garment production along with sewing team at least 50% of the time.
Quality Assurance
- Versed in specific quality measures associated with each project. Masters the sew-by sample provided by technical design team and uses it to guide the quality standards of each piece.
- Monitors quality assurance throughout production. Advises and communicates concerns in quality measures and assists in identifying the source.
- Monitors production thresholds in terms of time, materials, and product output. Informs Production manager of anticipated needs or possible shortfalls.
- Assesses both the process and the product in terms of expected standards of quality, efficiency, effectiveness, and flow. Uses information to inform future work.
Staff Oversight
- Ensures that all sewing staff are have the information, training, and resources necessary to do the job successfully.
- Acts as a point of contact for staff throughout the production process. Acts as a technical resource and actively troubleshoots to ensure that staff have the information, tools, and materials to move forward.
- With oversight from the Production Manager, provides formal and informal feedback to staff, including relevant documentation, to promote skill enhancement and performance development in an ongoing manner.
- Acts as conduit of information for mgt. Ensures that clear communication is directed to management in a timely manner.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Operate all production machinery and equipment necessary for a Sewing Specialist with skill and quality output.
- Understand, communicate, interpret, and execute complex operational concepts and workflows.

Education and Experience:
Certification or relevant training as a professional Sewist. At least 2 years of previous work-related experience in production management or production workflow oversight. Demonstrated experience or exposure to the entire production process preferred.
Physical Capabilities:
Work is usually performed on the production floor with frequent ambulation among workstations. Long periods of sedentary work while sewing. Hand and physical dexterity and coordination sufficient to operate hand tools and machinery for detailed work.
