Our client, a wholesale apparel company, is searching for a Sourcing Associate to join their NYC team! The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fabric sourcing, exceptional negotiation skills, and the ability to manage relationships with global suppliers.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and source high-quality fabrics from global suppliers, establishing and maintaining strong relationships with fabric suppliers, mills, and manufacturers worldwide.
- Conduct thorough market research to stay updated on fabric trends, innovations, and competitive pricing.
- Evaluate and select vendors based on quality, reliability, cost, and production capabilities.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery terms with suppliers to ensure the best possible outcomes for the company.
- Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, delivery, or compliance.
- Manage fabric inventory levels to ensure adequate supply for production needs while minimizing excess stock.
- Coordinate with the production team to forecast fabric requirements based on upcoming orders and seasonal demands.
- Maintain accurate records of fabric orders, deliveries, and inventory levels.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Textile Science, Fashion Merchandising, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in fabric sourcing, specifically within the apparel industry
- Strong knowledge of global fabric markets and trends.
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency in using sourcing and inventory management software.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to travel both domestically and internationally as required.
