This program requires assistance in capturing, distilling and communicating information to both internal and external stakeholders. The person shall provide technical editing and writing expertise to various teams within the program management office of our customer. While the support will be focused on the engineering and program lifecycle activities, the person should keep abreast and possess an understanding of the many facets of the program.
Job Description
The person shall provide the following support to include, but not limited to the following activities:
- Gather, translate and compose technical information into clear, readable documents for use by both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Create written documentation from start through publication.
- Support the CDM PMO capability development teams (CDT) in drafting CDM capabilities and technical supporting documentation.
- Support the government with creation of technical materials for the CDM program.
- Update and develop documents that support the DHS System Engineering Lifecycle to include, but are not limited to foundational documents such as Concept of Operations, Operational Requirements Document, System Requirements, System Design, Test & Evaluation Management Plan, status reports, implementation plans and guides, technical presentations, charters, 1-pagers, white papers.
- Take minutes during frequent technical meetings, some of which could be one hour or more in length; transcribe notes into detailed documentation; identify action items; organize, track, and record action items and assure that the owners are aware of their tasks.
- Develop processes for Front Office functions with little or no direction provided.
- Perform document editorial review and updates.
- Maintain documents in repositories so that they are easily retrievable by all users.
- Advise colleagues on the correct formats to use.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Business Admin, Information Systems, Engineering or other related field. 8 years additional technical writing experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- 5 years recent experience drafting requirements and technical documentation for acquisition programs.
- Power user of Microsoft Word (extensive use to include experience in determining which type of written solution to use, experience creating templates according to CISA style guides, advanced understanding of formatting and styles and hands-on experience).
- Detail driven.
- Advanced experience using Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel.
- Understand the technology and related vocabulary involved in the project (including experience in a similar technology project) and understand what you are writing about.
- Experience using Visio and Project are pluses.
- A self-starter and be able to work on multiple artifacts in the same time frame and often with changing timelines.
- Able to work with different customers and different communication and management styles, while exhibiting patience, interest, and commitment to the mission goals.
