Now Hiring: Public Health Nurse I or II – Infectious Disease

(Grant position)


The Public Health Nurse I or II works to effectively conduct surveillance and response of COVID-19 (including contact tracing) and other conditions of public health significance.  To further enhance investigation, response and prevention by case identification and exposure to COVID-19 in high-risk settings or within vulnerable populations to target mitigation strategies. This position is grant-funded through the Ohio Department of Health COVID-19 Enhanced Operations grant.

 

Duties Include:

  • Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for healthcare and community outbreak response and infection prevention and control (IPC).
  • Serves as a Liaison for high-risk settings or vulnerable populations to build local capacity for reporting, rapid containment and prevention of COVID-19.
  • Provide guidance and Implements prevention strategies in high-risk settings such as long-term facilities (LTCFs) including building capacity to safely house and isolate infected and exposed residents.
  • Increase Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) assessment capacity using the CDC’s Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) tool either virtually or onsite to provide technical assistance to LTCF, residential care facilities/assisted living facilities, dialysis centers, FQHCs and other healthcare facilities in partnership with the ODH Healthcare-Associated Infections/Antimicrobial Resistance (HAIAR) Program.
  • Perform preparedness assessment to ensure interventions are in place to protect high-risk populations in partnership with preparedness staff and regional healthcare coalitions.
  • Participates in other related duties as assigned.

 

 

 

Requirements:

  • Current and unrestricted Ohio Registered Nurse license as required by Ohio Department of Health grant.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 years of infection control or related experience required.
  • Public health or related nursing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and proficiency using an Electronic Health Record system preferred.
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to meet insurability requirements; some evening and weekend hours required.
  • As the infection prevention SME, will complete advanced infection prevention and control training, the Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC), the Centers for Medicare and Medical Services (CMS) Universal Infection Prevention and Control course and the CDC Nursing Home Infection Preventionist Training course within the 9 to 12 months of hire.


Hiring Salary:

  • $27.96/hour - $32.15/hour for Public Health Nurse I
  • $29.79/hour - $34.26/hour for Public Health Nurse II
  • This is a non-exempt position.
