Job Description
POSITION TITLE: BUS DRIVER TRAINEE
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Possess a high school diploma or GED, required
2. Minimum age of 21
3. Possess a valid Washington state driver's license and 5 years of driving experience
4. Pass Department of Transportation physical exam including drug screening
5. Pass Washington State and FBI background check
JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Demonstrated dependability in work attendance
2. Ability to attend to detail and follow through on a variety of assigned tasks
3. Ability to understand and carry-out oral and written instructions
4. Physical ability and agility to perform activities common in working on buses, such as sitting, standing squatting, bending, reaching, as well as being able to grasp, hold, lift and maneuver a minimum of 20 lbs
5. Must have a sincere interest in working with students of different ages and backgrounds; works effectively with staff, students, and parents with diverse economic and/or ethnic backgrounds
6. Must be able to work positively and diplomatically with potentially difficult people in demanding situations, maintaining a positive demeanor while working toward resolution
7. Must maintain a positive, productive and cooperative working relationship with all District co- workers, students and parents/guardians, and demonstrate a sincere interest in representing the
District in a positive and professional manner
8. Meet school district standards to be a school bus driver; i.e. student management skills, personal appearance, driving skills.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must attend all OSPI, state, and district mandated trainings, classroom and behind-the-wheel.
2. Complete all district and transportation department mandatory trainings, including annual in- service.
