What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veteran Liaison-Hospice-Part Time position at Frederick Health?
The Veteran Liaison will expand outreach to our veteran community, increase professional education on end-of-life issues as they relate to the specific needs of our veterans, as well as commemorate and acknowledge the sacrifice and contributions of our veterans in Frederick County. Veteran Liaison responsible for program development, organization and leadership of hospice outreach efforts in the community. It is common for veterans at this stage to face issues related to their military experiences that may never have been addressed. Staff and volunteer training is an integral component and will focus on providing the compassionate physical, emotional and spiritual support so important to veterans and their families at end-of-life.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
• Prior military experience with honorable discharge. Retired military preferred.
• Master Degree or a bachelor degree with prior experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively and professionally, strong public speaking skills.
• Demonstrates ability to understand hospice regulations and reimbursement criteria.
• Must possess a working knowledge of VA benefits and have the skills to obtain and provide guidance on available resources through the VA system.
• Military experience in healthcare a plus.
• Ability to use word processing, database, and clinical information software applications.
