Job Duties:
- Reviews site assessment and submit information necessary to an outside designer to prepare for permit drawing packets
- Reviews designs for compliance with NEC, local AHJ, and utility requirements
- Creates and uploads bill of materials (BOM)
- Create and edit permit drawing packages using AutoCAD
- Responds to AHJ and utility plan review comments
- Able to run production analyses to optimize the value of solar
- Coordinates with other sales, site assessment, permitting, operations installation teams, and electricians for engineering support as needed
- Provides technical support to troubleshoot design and/or other technical issues
- Responds to emails/calls about design-related questions
Assists with other duties as assigned by the Design Manager
Job Requirements:
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Computer-Aided Drafting, Degree in Science, Tech, Engineering or Math field
1 years of PV Design experience Designer I or 2 years PV Design experience Designer II
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Essentialto the intermediate user in AutoCAD, Aurora, Microsoft Office
- Understanding of basic electrical design concepts and theory
- Strong verbal/written communication skills
- Hard-working & Positive attitude
- Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Highly Detail-oriented
- Works well with others in a team environment and is able to work independently
- Flexible and adaptable to changing processes
- Familiarity with DC and AC modules, microinverters, optimizers, and string inverters
- Able to complete at least 90 residential designs and BOMs per month with a high level of accuracy
- Able to design advanced systems including grid-tie with battery backup, remote off-grid, ground mounts, and complex electrical upgrades
- Excellent knowledge of NEC code and electrical design requirements
- Able to navigate many different AHJ and utility requirements with a high first-pass approval rate for plan review
- Able to answer complex technical questions from the Sales and Operations teams
