Job Summary
Hours of position: 7am-3:30pm, 8am-4:30pm
Performs echo and non-invasive vascular studies; provides appropriate documentation, patient education, and billing functions for inpatient and outpatient studies.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs diagnostic non-invasive vascular, echocardiographic or diagnostic ultrasound testing.
- Communicates patient findings to reading physician.
- Provides input into development of department policies, QA, equipment selection, etc.
- Provides patient education regarding studies.
- Cleans and maintains equipment and monitors equipment performance.
- Completes charges for procedures.
- Maintains department stock of supplies.
- Provides accurate and complete documentation for all studies.
- Effectively communicates with Physicians, nursing staff, and central scheduling to provide prompt services.
- Actively participates in departmental quality assurance and operations improvement.
- Participates in continuing education.
- Promotes safety in the workplace.
- Promotes quality operations and customer relations.
- Actively displays characteristics of the FHN PRIDE Standards and the Commitment to Respect, Dignity, and Compassion.
- Displays competency for age specific patients; newborn through geriatrics.
- Displays competency for the ECHO/Vascular Technician role as evidenced in the annual performance appraisal following the FHN Workforce Standards.
- Other duties maybe assigned.
- Transports patients.
- Must take on-call responsibilities for area of responsibility. This position requires employee to maintain close observation of equipment and patients and the ability to recognize changes and respond quickly. Excellent interpersonal skills, and teamwork orientation to move easily from one work assignment to another are required.
Qualifications
Requirements
Education: Graduate from an accredited program in ultrasound or program in Radiologic Technology and complete 4 months specialized training in Medical Sonography.
Required Experience: Prefer 2 or more years of related experience.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Prefer registration in Ultrasound or subspecialty area. BLS
