The primary responsibility of the Driver Recruiter is to introduce driving opportunities to prospective Company drivers, as well as Independent Contractors and Fleet Owners. Through the process of evaluating driver applications, conducting telephone and face to face interviews, this position will have the responsibility of keeping our company trucks filled as well as growing the Independent Contractor fleet.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be a “subject matter” expert on FCC program offerings and the career opportunities for Company, Independent Contractor, and Fleet Owner drivers.
  • Will perform various daily recruiting activities to source new driver talent, supporting the department in meeting and exceeding specific monthly hiring goals.
  • Actively respond to and act on various leads and sell driving opportunities by telephone and in
  • Answer incoming calls from prospective driver candidates. Introduce program offerings and career opportunities. Effectively deal with caller’s questions, and close on quality candidates to hire or lease on with FCC.
  • Review and process applications of qualified candidates by completing all safety required background screenings and documentation to ensure DOT compliance.
  • Interface with internal departments on candidates’ screening, testing, and
  • Evaluate and make conditional job offers to those candidates who meet the FCC hiring Inform candidates of any additional requirements for information and/or paperwork required to complete the recruitment process.
  • Follow up via telephone or written contact with all pending
  • Coordinate with approved applicants on the on-boarding process including set up and management of travel arrangements and orientation details.
  • Maintain superior customer service with candidates and internal
  • Maintain and promote Driver Retention for the company through positive driver engagement and open effective communication. Route concerns or questions from current drivers to the appropriate departments for review and follow-up.
  • Conduct driver reviews at set intervals.
  • Conduct driver truck changes, moves, and assignments.
  • Will be required to perform recruitment and retention oriented special projects as requested, directed or assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and analytical Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and professional communication
  • Pleasant but assertive-persuasive telephone personality.
  • Interviewing skills to include the ability to listen and analyze answers and also ask appropriate
  • Self motivated and self directed.
  • Ability to make decisions based on objective data obtained from applications and from interviews.
  • Ability to work within a team by providing support to other team members and maintaining productivity levels and specified goals.
  • Proficient computer skills including Windows based programs.
  • Knowledge of Company policies and procedures and the ability and willingness to learn the rules and regulations for compliance in FMCSA Regulations.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Previous transportation experience, 3 years preferred
  • Previous driver qualification, training and retention strategy experience
  • Previous driver recruiting experience, Company and Independent Contractor
  • Customer service oriented experience preferred

  • Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA) Standards and Regulations
