Welcome to Frenchman Valley Ranch! We’re a 3 rd generation family-owned operation located near Saco, MT in the northeastern part of the state. We grow a variety of crops on 5,000 acres including winter wheat, spring wheat, barley, triticale, peas, Sudan grass, and alfalfa. We also maintain a cow herd of about 2,000 cows and run approximately 1,500 yearlings on our ranch. We take pride in taking care of our land, our team and our facilities. We run a progressive operation and are looking for a self-starter who shares the passion we have for agriculture and in sustaining the land for generations to come.
We’re hiring for a Farm Manager to join our team. This role works closely with the owners on the execution of a crop plan and would lead the day-to-day operations. This is a hands-on foreman role where you would be operating equipment, running irrigation, assisting with grain handling all while leading daily direction of 1-2 farm employees. We’re looking for someone that has strong farming experience and is comfortable in a role where you are operating and working alongside the team you are leading. The ideal candidate would bring a strong work ethic, organizational skills, and honesty.

An ideal candidate would bring:
- Row crop farming experience (irrigated and dryland) along with mechanical ability to assist with maintenance
- Proven ability to lead a team while working alongside them
- A desire to be part of small town living in a close-knit community
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the owner on operational tasks, labor management, crop management, planning, and day-to-day execution of farming practices
- Lead day-to-day operations maximizing efficient use of labor, equipment and time
- During growing season, manage field operations including planting, irrigation, application of chemical and fertilizer, harvesting and tillage
- During the summer, assist with cutting, swathing, baling, and hauling hay
- Assist with grain handling operations and logistics of hauling out grain
- During the winter months lead maintenance and data management projects
- Monitor quality of maintenance projects, field work, and data tracking of team
- Oversee preventative maintenance program, and maintain accurate maintenance records
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization and appearance of the farm, machinery and landowner properties
- Work with owners on suggestions for new improvements, practices, etc. to support a more efficient operation
Job Requirements
- Prior farming experience
- Must be able to physically work in an industrial/farming environment and extended hours during peak seasons
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record at all times
- Have valid CDL or ability to obtain one
- Must have mechanical ability to maintain and operate equipment and irrigation
