Manager, Supply Chain, NxStage Medical, Inc., a Fresenius Medical Care N.A. company, Lawrence, MA
Purpose and Scope:
Responsible for managing sourcing, planning and maintaining inventory of bagged fluids for both Home and Critical Care markets, especially fluids used with a portable hemodialysis system. Responsible for key relationships with vendors, in-house manufacturing locations, Product Management, Customer Service, and Marketing. Creates policies and procedures for inventory control, distribution and forecasting and Manages cross-functional initiatives including the implementation of new programs, initiatives, products and technology.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Generating an SKU-level forecast for all bagged fluids (both Lactate and Bicarb-based dialysate) including:
- Incorporating historical and market trends and seasonality;
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders (Finance, Product Management, Marketing, Logistics, Customer Service);
- Collaborating with external stakeholders (key vendors/external and in-house manufacturers);
- Aligning forecast against inventory targets and contractual commitments; and
- Coordinating with Replenishment Planner to ensure target service levels.
- Developing and managing the relationship with counterparts at key vendors/external and in-house manufacturers.
- Balancing inventory against forecasted volumes and distribution to distributors/clinics as well as home patients.
- Effectively managing relationship with third party distributors to develop ongoing communication, build rapport, and to coordinate distribution to both distributor and home network.
- Assembling data, coordinating necessary meetings, and communicating effectively with accountable groups (e.g. Fluids Ops, Finance, Product Management, Customer Service, Logistics) to ensure smooth operational processes.
- Ensuring, through active management of IFS system, operational settings are correctly incorporated into IFS system.
- Monitoring and finding opportunities to improve the following Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Forecast accuracy;
- Shipments versus volume commitments.
- Days-of-supply versus defined targets.
- On time in full to DCs; and
- On time in full to distributors and home patients.
- Addressing and proactively mitigating clinic issues.
- Improving upon current documentation and SOPs for supply chain planning processes and systems including distributor inventory management (Critical Care and International).
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality requirements for bagged fluids.
- Developing solutions to streamline compliance with regulations
Education Experience and Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management required.
Must have 3 years of experience as a Supply Chain Analyst in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry. This experience must include experience with the following:
- Supply planning, replenishment methods, inventory and supply chain management;
- Excel modeling, Microsoft Office applications and SAP/IFS;
- Standard quality related tools including, but not limited to, SPC, AQP, DOE, Minitab and Agile Product Lifecycle Management system;
- Conducting quality system audits of material suppliers; and
- Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing tools including BIRST
Must have strong analytical and organizational abilities.
