What are the responsibilities and job description for the Category Management Manager position at Fresh Express?
Fresh Express is the national market leader in Value Added Salads. We are building a "Category Management Center of Excellence" in Orlando and seeking candidates with strong strategic abilities coupled with analytical curiosity to join us. The successful candidate for the Category Management Manager position will have a significant impact on the success of Fresh Express sales by working closely with the marketing and sales teams to provide data analysis and insights along training others on how to use the data in fact-based selling opportunities. Additionally, the candidate must become an expert in syndicated data for Fresh Express and the Value Added Salad Category, providing insights, reports, tools, customer reviews and business insights that will drive the business forward.
Essential Job Function:
- Create, analyze, and deliver marketing and sales reports using tools like IRI's Market Advantage and CSIA household panel online
- Support customer teams by leveraging syndicated data, customer loyalty card data, customer internal shipment and scan data (where available) and primary and secondary research data at Fresh Express, to drive opportunities and mitigate risks
- Partner with sales and marketing on shelf space management strategies category allocation, shelf space allocation, new item placement, create assortment planning, SKU rationalization, adjacencies
- Work with marketing, sales, customers to analyze and anticipate future shopper trends
- Perform ad-hoc marketing, sales and/or customer specific analyses; e.g. identify distribution opportunities, create assortment recommendations, create planograms, optimize pricing and promotions, etc.
- Leverage Fresh Express pricing tools to collaborate with marketing and sales to accurately forecast volume and/or share based on price or promotion changes
- Develop syndicated data tools that can be leveraged to drive Fresh Express sales
- Identify opportunities for improving Fresh Express' syndicated data and deliverables
- Lead and coordinate syndicated data training for Fresh Express and broker partners
- Assist in custom analytic projects; e.g. marketing mix, price elasticity, etc.
- Assist in advanced syndicated panel data analyses
- Build strong collaborative partnerships with cross functional team members and research partners; e.g. IRI, Nielsen Canada, Mintel, etc.
- Lead Fresh Express annual syndicated database refresh/restatement process for the US and Canada
Essential Qualifications:
- Strong analytical skills with 8 years' experience working successfully with numerical data and information required. Minimum 5 years' experience working in a Category Management department in a CPG company
- Ability to influence both internally and externally to achieve results
- IRI Market Advantage or Nielsen Answers experience strongly desired
- Experience working in Assortment and Space Management Software e.g. ProSpace, Apollo
- Customer POS and loyalty card data strongly preferred
- Familiarity with pricing and marketing mix analyses strongly preferred
- Excellent project management experience desired
- Ability to work both on a team as well as individually
- Excellent computer skills (Excel and PowerPoint required)
- Excellent communication, organization and presentation skills (written and oral)
- Ability to tell a story with data
- Strong strategic abilities coupled with analytical curiosity and collaborative style
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required. MBA preferred
- Travel 20-30%
