This position will be responsible for providing support to the plant and maintenance of the quality assurance program. Other duties will include overseeing the quality and safety of all products and processes. Reports to Quality Assurance Manager/supervisor. Back-up: In the event a QA technician is absent, QA Management will assign duties to a qualified QA team member or perform the required duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
These include (but are not limited to):
- Provide support to Quality assurance management and other department managers as required
- Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance, may become actively involved as required to meet schedules and resolve problems.
- Responsible for organizing and submitting QA records as requested/required
- Maintain inventory of QA supplies etc.… as required
- Provide support to the plant and provide “hands on” leadership and support in the development, implementation, daily operations, and maintenance of the quality assurance program
- Have general knowledge of Quality Manufacturing Systems
- Assist in utilizing productivity software
- Confer with Management team on Quality issues
- Confer with QA Mgr. on laboratory projects
- Prepare product samples for third party laboratory/call for pick up as needed.
- Support HACCP and Control Point data collection
- May Perform HACCP audits, report’s findings to the department quality manager for changes/improvements in overall program as directed
- Perform audits on all documentation (Quality Assurance) as assigned
- Verify calibration standards and requirements
- Participates in QA/supervisor meetings and food safety meetings and provides food safety awareness to all departments.
- Have general knowledge of statistical process control (SPC).
- participate in Food safety/regulatory Audits
- Food Safety Trained (HACCP, GFSI) Minimum (or must complete within 60 days) Certified preferred
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education/Experience:
6 months plus of progressive related experience and/ or training; in a food production facility, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, Knowledge of (HACCP/GFSI) Minimum *(Certified preferred.)
Communication Skills:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, managers, customers and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to accurately perform basic mathematics; work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical interference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in writing, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to use basic laboratory equipment; must be computer literate.

- Individuals must be able to work in a cold and wet environment. The employee must work with certain chemicals that may be hazardous if not used properly. Proper training will be provided on storage, use and first aid treatment for those chemicals.
