This is a Friends Outside contract position at Pelican Bay State Prison in Crescent City, CA providing assistance to visitors through the Visitor Center, a sheltered area, which is outside of the security perimeter, for visitors who are waiting before or after visits or need services which include transportation, child care for visitors' children, emergency clothing, and information on visiting regulations and processes.
The Driver/Transportation Coordinator’s responsibilities include:
- Operate a state vehicle transporting visitors from public transits to and from the institution.
- Coordinate and plan transportation schedules.
- Perform vehicle safety inspections and maintain basic transportation logs
- Coordinate the routine maintenance of the vehicle with the institution.
- Possess good interpersonal skills and demonstrates a courteous and professional demeanor.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- California Department of Motor Vehicles Class A or B license, with passenger endorsement or a valid California Non-Commercial Class C driver’s license with a valid Commercial Medical Certificate
- Must provide a DMV (H-6) driving record containing NO DUI convictions within the past five years, and no moving violations within the last three years.
- Certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
Part-time: Fridays: 11:00AM – 7:00PM, SATURDAYS and SUNDAYS: 7:30AM – 3:30PM and four (4) major HOLIDAYS: New Year’s Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day (8 hrs. per day)
