Job Description
Front Line Consulting focuses on providing Program Management and Process Improvements. We combine traditional Project Management and Agile principles with the knowledge and insights gained from decades of military experience.
We are currently gathering and vetting candidates for Construction Estimators to work on various projects in several regions of New York. Note that these construction projects have an early 2024 start date.
Position Scope
The Cost Estimator prepares a wide range of estimates – from conceptual to detailed design – for civil, operations and maintenance, and government facility projects. The estimator will review design documents, proposals, specifications, drawings, attend design development meetings and make sites visits to define the scope of work and cost impacts required of the estimate process.
This position will work closely with our public client to prepare estimates by developing project work breakdown structures, calculating the complete scope of work take-offs, assist contracts staff with statements of work for subcontractors and vendors, apply construction means and methods, prepare schedules, calculate indirect field and owner’s costs.
Daily Tasks
The Estimator will be tasked with negotiating requests for proposals on active construction projects. As well as overseeing the coordination with contractors, project managers, EICs, and Office of General Services management to ensure the accurate and timely processing of requests for proposals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management
- Proficient skills in the area of current technology (Word, Excel, estimating, scheduling, and database software)
- Minimum 6 years of demonstrated understanding of estimating organizational structure and process, including quantity takeoff, crew development, productivity relationships, material quotations, contingency/risk, knowledge of markup structures and estimate documentation.
- Proficient in quantitative risk analysis using software including @Risk and Primavera Risk analysis.
- Experience using industry estimating software, such as Timberline, HCSS Heavy Bid, and MII Estimating systems.
- Understanding of project scheduling; ability to use Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
- Able to travel to meet project needs
- Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in written correspondence.
- OSHA 30 Certification Required
- Must be able to read blueprints, apply written specifications to the job and communicate effectively.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely; both verbally and in writing
- Excellent leadership skills
- Understanding of all facets of the construction process

- Adept at interpersonal relationship building and conflict resolution
- Flexible to travel to various project locations
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
