What Will You Be Doing?

The Director, Maintenance Control is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling work required to meet Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs) and company standards on the line, at the hangar and at all maintenance stations.

Essential Functions

Manage, monitor and coordinate SMS activities as directed. These duties include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate the development, implementation, maintenance, and integration of the SMS throughout
  • Frontier.
  • Identify hazards and safety risk assessments including change management.
  • Ensure effectiveness of safety risk controls.
  • Promote safety.
  • Advise the accountable executive on the performance of the SMS and on any need for improvement.
  • Accountable for achieving safety performance relative to job tasks.
  • Manage risk acceptable level: orange or lower as defined by Frontier’s company risk matrix.
  • Ensure compliance with all Code of Federal Regulations and Frontier Airlines company policies and procedures as they pertain to maintenance operations on company aircraft.
  • Provide direction to management in all areas in the course of day-to-day activities.
  • Manage department budget process.
  • Prepare performance reports relative to established plans.
  • Oversee management of Airworthiness Release including all aircraft returns to service.
  • Oversee management of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance process and the generation of records for accomplishment of routine and non-routine items.
  • Oversee AD accomplishment process.
  • Oversee scheduled and unscheduled maintenance process.
  • Provide oversight for the MEL/CDL/NEF (Defer) process.
  • Oversee the management for workflow and workforce scheduling to ensure all duties listed above are completed.
  • Provide oversight to MCC and MEL SME to ensure continual safe operations.
  • Make recommendations to Maintenance Training for program enhancements.
  • Vol.D Ensure that he or she maintains personal training, qualifications, and currency to perform assigned tasks.
  • Participate in QA Board and Reliability Board.
  • Participate in the MEL/CDL/NEF deferral process
  • Ensure the quality of the RVSM program.
  • Direct the Maintenance Planning functions.
  • Oversight of the direction of the Maintenance Planning functions.
  • Detail schedule of aircraft maintenance.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of safety risk controls.

Other Functions

  • Hold overall responsibility for Line and Heavy Maintenance, Maintenance Control, and Technical Services and senior level authority when making operations decisions.
  • Make operational decisions directly related to aircraft safety and scheduled service.
  • Delegate authority in print and specific to the person authorized.
  • Hold authority to modify the MEL/CDL/NEF Program.
  • Has overall responsibility and authority for the CAMP.

Qualifications

  • FAA-certified Mechanic with both airframe and powerplant ratings, and have held these ratings for at least 5 years
  • One year or more experience in returning aircraft to service
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a supervisory capacity for a 121 or 135 operator
  • Preferred – college degree
  • Preferred – FCC radio license
  • 5 years of Maintenance Control work experience
  • 7 years of leadership/management experience in a Transport Category air carrier or equivalent air carrier

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have, and certify through a Memorandum of Understanding, familiarity with the following areas:
  • Aviation safety standards and safe operation practices
  • 14 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) Chapter 1 (Federal Aviation Regulations)
  • Certificate Holder's operations specifications
  • All appropriate maintenance and airworthiness requirements of 14 CFR (e.g., parts 1, 21, 23, 25,
  • 43, 45, 47, 65, 91, and 121).
  • Certificate holder's manual required by 14 CFR Part 121.133
  • Understand manuals required by 14 CFR 121.133
  • Must demonstrate behavior that portrays the company core values of Safety, Respect, Trust, Collaboration, Value, and Passion while communicating with personnel and acting on behalf of the company.
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, and administrate workloads to subordinates

Salary Range $136,000 - $170,000
