Description
I. OBJECTIVE
To provide excellent customer service through the installation, repair, splicing and testing of outside plant.
II. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
A. Reports to: Cable Service Supervisor
III. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Personally performs the following activities unique to this position:
1. Splices and tests work order additions, line extension additions and work authorizations. Tests major contract additions and special circuits.
2. Splices, terminates and loads telephone cable according to procedures and specifications.
3. Installs and maintains station equipment and connections.
4. Performs maintenance on existing cable facilities utilizing assigned test equipment.
5. Maintains inventory of supplies on vehicles used in department.
6. Ensures all service orders have correct information and tag protectors and drops.
7. Locates all outside plant facilities as directed.
8. Runs jumpers in the central office and in the field.
9. Maintains, splices and tests new and existing outside plant fiber optic facilities.
10. Performs installation and maintenance on residential and business broadband services.
11. Performs installation and maintenance for FTC Vision subscribers.
12. Complies with all safety rules and regulations.
13. Performs other duties as directed.
IV. EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
A. All Utilities: Coordinates activities.
B. Government Agencies (Federal, State, Local): Coordinates activities.
C. Contractors: Coordinates activities.
D. Customers: Provides information, responds to questions and/or routes to appropriate personnel.
Qualifications
REQUIRED: High school diploma; valid drivers license; willingness to work after hours and weekend repair duty; willingness to attend training classes as necessary; advanced working knowledge of personal computers and internet; excellent verbal communication skills; personality for dealing with the public, excellent organizational skills.
DESIRED: Basic AC/DC theory; ability to read schematic maps and overlays; one (1) year experience in outside telephone fiber and copper cable plant splicing, installation and repair.
Salary : $31,700 - $40,200
