Catapult Learning, the largest provider of K-12 contracted instructional services in the United States, is searching for an experienced Special Education Content Designer to own the development of special education programs and professional learning products. S/he will be responsible for the creating, planning, and day-to-day management of Special Education curricula and professional development. In addition, the Special Education Content Designer will work cross-functionally with the Center for PD Excellence to train PD Specialists, and the Sales Team to train Sales reps. As part of the Academics Team, and under the management of the Vice President, Academics the Special Education Content Designer will work collaboratively across the organization to define the scope and direction of Special Education projects, develop content for adult learning, develop curriculum supports for students, manage deliverables, inform budgets, manage relationships with 3rd party consultants and vendors, work on Special Education RFP responses and sales proposals, and assist with SPED program design, especially as it relates to PD.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBLITIES
Plan and manage project logistics to ensure timely and on-budget completion of projects
Develop UbD-inspired special education curriculum, professional development, and/or programs; assist with personalized program design for schools and districts
Train and manage subject matter experts in the design and delivery of Special Education PD and programs
Manage curriculum and content development, including all phases of development and production
Keep abreast of current research including best practices in special education, intervention, and state and college and career ready standards
Work with Project Director to create project plans, including budgets, timelines, as well as key milestones and deliverables
Oversee all phases of product development, providing overall pedagogical guidance to ensure consistency, quality, and appropriateness by:
Developing scopes and sequences for special education programs
Identifying the appropriate attributes for the development of special education, intervention, professional development and assessment materials
Developing, editing, and refining curricula and supporting materials
Managing content writers and developmentally editing content to ensure high-quality and consistency, as needed
Reviewing and revising supporting materials
Partner with the Instructional Excellence and Technology teams to pilot new programs and products, gather feedback and data, and assess necessary changes
Maintain and update existing SPED programs and products
Master’s degree AND at least five (5) years of Special Education experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience in the field of special education, preferably in more than one disability area or at the leadership level
Experience in the education industry, including in developing print-based and technology-based professional learning content and curriculum
Experience leading significant projects in a customer-focused, fast-paced environment
Outstanding analytical and project management capabilities
Superior written and oral communication skills, including strong organizational, time management, and people and vendor management skills with the ability to multi-task and work under tight timelines
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; comfortable with Internet-based tools and applications; demonstrated capability to design high quality professional learning assets using PowerPoint, Google slides, or Prezi.
