Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, public administration, or related field and at least one year of accounting experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: None.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to provide general accounting services for the court including reconciling accounts, providing financial analysis, ensuring accuracy of ledger entries, and compiling and maintaining financial records. This classification is distinguished from Court Accountant II in that this classification performs general accounting duties and has responsibility for reconciling and monitoring accounts whereas the latter additionally designs and maintains analytical reports and provides accounting and statistical information and input for decision-makers.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Assists in maintaining financial records and ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded.
Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.
Compiles financial data to aid more senior accountants in the preparation of balance sheets and financial reports.
Assists in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
Reviews and enters invoices, purchase orders, payment vouchers, and similar records of transactions in an automated financial/accounting system. Posts adjusting entries.
Sorts incoming garnishment requests, disburses funds from garnishment reports, and groups disbursements from attorneys.
Performs a range of accounting duties related to fiscal analysis including the examination, analysis, maintenance, reconciliation and verification of financial records.
Receives, counts, verifies, batches, and records cash receipts; prepares and posts deposits; researches discrepancies; researches and processes dishonored and escheatment checks and makes appropriate adjustments and entries as necessary.
Maintains customer records and information; posts billings and processes invoices. Maintains tax records; processes claims and recalculates taxes; prepares correspondence.
Verifies, modifies, and reconciles accounts receivables from the courts; records and refunds bonds.
Verifies travel reimbursements. Verifies and transmits information from claim forms; completes related reports.
Provides deposit information for monthly reports. Compiles and processes data for assigned unit.
Requires knowledge of cash handling and banking procedures. Governmental Accounting Procedures (GAP). Generally Accepted Accounting Principles(GAAP). General office practices, procedures, equipment, and technology.
Requires skill in using spreadsheet, database, word processing, presentation, financial management, other software, keyboarding/data entry, and organizing and prioritizing work.
Responds to customer inquiries via phone and email. Assists vendors and County personnel as required.
Builds sustainable working relationships with other County personnel, officials, and the public.
