Job Summary:
The VP Software Development is responsible for software development, quality assurance, and client facing technologies. The candidate must lead a team of full-stack developers and quality assurance analysts.
The VP Software Development works in partnership with new business, account, and project team members across all capabilities and is responsible for effective communication, documentation, mentorship, estimation, scope, and system administration.
This role reports to the SVP, Product and can be remote or a part of our Chicago or Detroit office.
*While our offices are currently open, daily in-office attendance is not required.
Accountabilities:
- Lead and grow multiple teams of product-focused Software engineers and Solutions Architects, deepening their experience in designing cloud native solutions, distributed microservices, and full stack.
- Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on team.
- Stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community.
- Work with product managers to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios - Continuously improve software engineering practices.
- Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack development tools and technologies.
- Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions
- Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity

Required Qualifications, Skills, And Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree and relevant certifications in technology and/or project management.
- 12 years’ experience with Technology solutions in the following areas: Cloud Infrastructure, Container Platforms & Serverless, high-availability deployment patterns (blue/green, canary, etc.), real-time monitoring and logging in cloud environments
- 10 years’ experience in Software Engineering, Application Architecture or Infrastructure Solution design
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in application design, CI/CD, system administration / DevOps (DNS, LAMP, IIS, AWS, Azure, GCloud)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Agile Delivery practices
Previous Job Experience
- Previous experience being part of a Technology Leadership team and reporting into SVP/EVP/CIO/CTO.
- Previous experience managing large technology budgets ($5M )
- Demonstrated experience leading medium to large (20 FTEs) technology teams that included Cloud & DevOps Engineers.
