Futamura’s objective is to specialize in high added value products. Among these is NatureFlexTM , a biodegradable, compostable film produced in the Tecumseh, KS facility. NatureFlexTM is based strongly on renewable resources and are fully certified to the European (EN13432) and American (ASTM D6400) norms for compostable packaging. The Department Manager position is responsible for interpreting company strategy and developing and implementing departmental strategies to support company objectives in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
- Ensure effective employee relations. Design and implement strategies to support a culture of coaching and development based on department needs.
- Directly responsible for development of the departmental budgets. Responsible for keeping costs within budgeted guidelines and directing continuous cost improvement efforts.
- Develop and implement strategies related to improvement efforts to maximize product utilization by the reduction of waste, rejects, commercial stock generation and utilization using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Develop and implement strategies to balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Work to continuously improve in all areas.
- Develops and implements strategies that coordinate activities concerned with the quality and consistency of company product(s) and establishes internal company quality controls in keeping with effective operations, customer needs, and cost factors, utilizing knowledge of product technology, production methods and procedures, capabilities of machines and equipment.
- Oversees the analytical testing of raw materials, work in progress, and finished product. Monitors the quality trends, communicates to department leadership to ensure goods and services are produced within quality standards, and are delivered to internal and/or external customers in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Process Engineering, or equivalent combination of Quality experience and Certifications (ASQ, Six Sigma, Etc.).
- 3-5 years of experience in a Quality leadership role within a production environment.
Preferred Experience
- ISO 9001 certification
- Experience in packaging films, or films coatings
