What are the responsibilities and job description for the DSP 1 position at Future Transitions?
Position Description:
Support adults with developmental disabilities to accomplish daily living activities at the person’s home and/or in the local community. Help the individual to be a known and valued member of his/her local community. The attendant is directly responsible for personal care and support to meet the goals and objectives of the individual that they serve. The Direct Support Professional 1 (DSP 1) shall be aware that the consumers may terminate individual service. FUTURE TRANSITIONS, INC., is an At-Will employer, meaning that the employer or employee with or without cause, adhering to the law governing employee/employer relationships, may terminate employment at any time. The DSP will understand that Future Transitions Inc has an obligation to the clients we serve and due to their vulnerability, the DSP’s employment is contingent on acceptance of the background check.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
One year of experience providing care to persons with developmental disabilities. Experience working with seniors in a human service field is also acceptable.
Transportation:
a. Valid California drivers license.
b. Clean driving record for the past 7 years (DMV printout required yearly).
c. Current vehicle registration and use of a vehicle in good running condition during shift hours.
d. Valid automobile insurance for that vehicle and all passengers, with employee name listed on the policy (new verification required at the expiration of the policy).
Other:
- Per California State mandate, the COVID-19 vaccination is required for all Future Transitions employees. Proof of vaccination is required, unless an employee requests, and is granted, an accommodation exemption due to religious or medical reasons (and, if so, the position will then be subject to weekly testing and other health and safety requirements).
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification for adults and children.
- Cell phone with data plan and app capabilities.
- Pass criminal background check through fingerprint clearance.
- Pass Pre-Employment drug screen and random drug test as required. Employment will be contingent upon acceptance of drug and/or alcohol screen results.
- The willingness and ability to perform all the essential functions of the job.
- The ability to work collaboratively with consumers and co-workers.
- An employment record of punctuality, good work attendance and reliability.
- You must complete an I-9 and show valid proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
