BAKERY GENERAL MANAGERWashington DC (Alexandria, VA)$150,000 180,000This position is accountable for all aspects of this operation to include financial performance, production operations, quality and product safety, maintenance and engineering, distribution, employee safety, assets, inventory, etc. and the continuing development of this segment of company operations.REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Bachelor s Degree in Business, Food scienceANDrelated technical fieldexperience.Five or more years management experience in a bakery manufacturing environmentsThree years bakery experience with a laminated dough product.Three years bakery experience with a Frozen dough product.Experience in production management, inventory control and distribution planning, labor relations, facilities and equipment management, quality assurance and process control methodsAbility to effectively lead a team of diverse employees with demonstrated leadership skillsStrong problem solving, decision-making and organizational skillsAbility to manage compliance with food safety standards and regulationsFamiliarity with general accounting, budgets and administration.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage day to day operations by directing a staff of managers, supervisors, and administrators in a facility of approximately 150 production and warehouse across three continuous shifts of operation. Set priorities, delegate assignments and follow up on results to ensure timely accomplishment of tasks and the achievement of the facility s operating and financial objectivesEvaluate the facility s operating and financial performance and requirements. Formulate long term objectives, strategies, resource requirements, etc.Administer labor contract with local union, formulate and implement plant human resources strategies, resolve employee grievances, approve hiring, promotion, discipline, discharge of bargaining unit employees. Resolve labor relations issues with union Business Agent.Evaluate the effectiveness of established methods, controls, and reporting systems. Develop and direct the implementation of methods and systems to improve quality and efficiency of operations. Obtain approval and commitment at the corporate level as necessary.Supervise and coordinate plant and equipment engineering and maintenance. Approve all major repairs. Consult with plant Maintenance Manager and corporate Director of Engineering to design/modify equipment to improve on quality and operational efficiency. Plan long term equipment needs to maintain adequate capacity and/or enhance operational efficiency and advise/recommend plans to executive operations management. Obtain proposals on specific purchases and generate appropriations requests for corporate approval. Ensure successful installation and achievement of objectives.Assure adherence to established safety policies and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. Execute programs directed by corporate and insurance carrier. Develop and implement additional programs to improve plant-wide safety awareness.Monitor and analyze QA reports, process control and production reports in order to ensure compliance to product quality standards.Review and approve all facility expenditures to include purchase orders, invoicing, etcOversee facility distribution activities to ensure continued supply of FUB and FFB to third party inventory locations and other direct shipments.Advise and counsel executive management on matters of company business. Attend meetings and approve all plans which are integral to the facility.Coordinate with R&D and sales/marketing personnel to develop and achieve rollout of new products and inventory availability.Conduct facility tours and presentations for customer, potential customer, vendors and Company executives.
