Job Description
General:
Plans and conducts work requiring judgment regarding the independent evaluation, selection and adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. Successfully completes engineering tasks on engineering projects. Works closely with Project Engineer or Engineer for technical review and guidance.
Responsibilities:
• Design and calculate heating and cooling loads for building systems
• Survey existing mechanical systems for buildings
• Select and layout mechanical equipment such as pumps, chiller, fans, and boilers
• Review and understand task objectives and requirements as communicated by the Project Manager or Project Engineer
• Assist in code analyses, required calculations, equipment selection and field survey tasks
• Attend meetings with architects, owners and building managers to discuss future and or current projects
• Understand and demonstrate core values
• Enhance the firm’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing internal and external client requests
• Represent the company in a professional manner in all dealings with owners, architects, vendors, other design professionals and contractors
• Updates job knowledge and technical expertise by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in technical organizations, and obtaining certifications in area of expertise and participating in the firm’s Technical Committee as requested
• Perform other duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited engineering program
• Between 2–15 years of experience with a consulting engineering firm
• Strong organizational, prioritization, decision making and analytical skills
• Possess strong verbal, written, analytical, persuasive, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to independently accomplish tasks and assignments to meet deadlines with supervision
• Ability to consistently set goals and meet deadlines and adapt to flexible responsibilities
• Ability to travel to client meetings and project sites
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
• Beginning understanding of the architectural, engineering and construction industry
• Introductory knowledge of code compliance requirements and industry standards
• Introductory working knowledge of BIM/Revit and AutoCAD
Required/Preferred Credentials:
• FE Designation is preferred
Job Classification and Scheduled Work Hours:
• Full Time Salaried Exempt employee. Exempt employees are ineligible for Overtime Pay.
• Standard workweek is 40 hours (Monday-Friday within the firm’s hours of operation); Some over time may be required to meet client requirements and project delivery target dates.
• Travel to client meetings and worksites required.
• In-office and remote work schedule based on project/business needs.
