Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of Maintenance supervisor and personnel, oversees housekeeping techniques and provides services that render the cleanliness and betterment of resident environment. Performs related duties as may be require
Responsibilities:
- Assists Maintenance Supervisor in providing subordinate maintenance housekeeping duties to preserve a sanitary and clean environment for resident and staff and visitors.
- Reports daily to supervisor upon beginning of shift, performs dusting( dry and damp) of resident unit, rooms, closets, window sills, furniture, resident bathrooms, replenishes sanitary supplies when necessary.
- Disposes of refuse, papers, magazines, flowers, etc., dust drapes, reports faulty equipment, danger or hazard in resident environment, follows safety rules in use of all equipment while performing duties, maintains cheerful relationship with staff and residents, but performs no “resident care” duties at any time.
- Dust and polish furniture of dining room and entrance ways.
- Maintains female and male washrooms, cleans all discharge units as to procedure and assignment, any given assignment from maintenance supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High school graduation or equivalent is preferred, but not always necessary, satisfactory completion of the formal classes or conferences of orientation as provided by an in- service training course; provided by the Home.
- Ability to learn and apply housekeeping and sanitation techniques for the care of the resident’s environment, the ability to maintain an understanding attitude toward residents, (there will be resident contact).
- Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions, ability to work congenially with others and under direction.
- Ability to keep records (when applicable), ability to perform manual work, may have previous acceptable experience, must be able to perform all duties of this position to a high level of proficiency.
