Risk and Safety Manager purpose:
The Risk and Safety Manager is responsible for the management of all occupational health and fleet safety programs and maintains a fleet of over 160 vehicles and continuously monitor the workplace for hazardous safety and health conditions on the Kitchen and Catering Department, Frozen Meal Line, TMS line, and Shelf Stable line.
The Risk and safety manager will also provide leadership to the organization and serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership. The individual in this role will foster professional relationships with insurance carriers; claim adjusters; safety and regulatory compliance agencies; general managers and staff personnel. This position requires competency with regulatory inspections; facility audits; root cause investigations; and general safety compliance. Local, statewide, and occasional national travel required.

Risk and Safety Manager Responsibilities, Including but not Limited To:
The Risk and Safety Manager is responsible for continuously monitoring and adapting safety procedures and operations to ensure a safe and fully compliant work environment for all employees. The main duties and responsibilities for this position include:
Safety:
- Monitor the removal of biological, physical, or chemical hazards from the workplace.
- Provide safety training for employees on policies, regulations, safety best practices and procedures.
- Advise the company's administrative team on safety issues and compliance in specific projects and operations.
- Inspect and verify company compliance with relevant safety regulations, including OSHA recordkeeping.
- Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines.
- Analyze safety needs, incident reports, metrics, and injury case studies in order to institute changes that lead to a safer environment based on compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
- Develop and/or update safety policies, procedures, training, and programs.
- Manage program effectiveness by creating metric dashboards and setting benchmarks.
- Implement and manage on-going programs and claims with all Business unit managers.
- Conduct accident investigations and audits.
- Assess the products, services, technologies, and systems that are available and appropriate for the company from a risk management standpoint.
- Spearhead company safety committee.
- Update all safety programs including HASP program as required. Five years of related experience required.
- Identify components to prevent loss, injuries from fire, electrical and other hazards, and work with the AHJ.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Claims and Loss Control:
- Assist with the overall management, development, implementation, and administration of the claim management program.
- Conducts and oversees Root Cause Analysis processes when indicated and follows up on action plans.
- Analyze claim trends and develop meaningful statistics.
- Provides various claim resolution strategies to mitigate exposure and lower expenses.
- Work with Carrier and Broker to conduct on site loss control audits at various company facilities and identify strategies to improve safety performance.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Fleet and DOT:
- Work with Logistics to ensure fleet vehicle compliance and safety programs, including passenger vehicles and all DOT operations & on-going certification requirements.
- Develop safe driving programs and accident reduction strategies.
- Collaborates with fleet operations and maintenance on safety and compliance issues.
- Investigate vehicle incident trends and develop effective incident reduction strategies.
- Work in conjunction with Fleet Management to develop measurement and analysis tools and metrics to assess the overall fleet operation's performance.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Risk and Safety Manager Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, Environmental Safety, or related field preferred.
- CSP / ASP certification a plus
- OSHA Trainer for General Industry a plus.
- Experience with fleet & logistics and food manufacturing a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and teach a team.
- Ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent incident investigation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Ability to perform "boots on the ground" in the field to implement and train on safety initiatives, as well as conduct random facility audits.

- Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
