Job Summary
This full-time employee leads portfolio management for Gaia Herbs. This position is responsible for delivering topline/profit performance and strategic oversight for assigned brand portfolio. This employee works closely with cross-functional peers to develop and implement a strategic 3-year portfolio plan that drives meaningful sales growth, brand/product positioning, innovation, pricing strategy programs, while contributing to on-going business management such as forecasting, sales support and performance analysis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following designations will flex/evolve over time, but this role will require the team member to:
- Develop holistic 3-year portfolio strategy and business case to accelerate growth within key strategic growth categories to maximize ROI and amplify a beautiful brand.
- Bi-annually defines market landscape, analyzing product performance and competitiveness to build category strategies that drive growth in revenue and margin.
- Leads product portfolio management process, managing product life cycles (from innovation, growth and optimization) and infusing “news” into the portfolio with a combination of innovation, enhancement and renovation initiatives.
- Partners with R&D to prioritize innovation and renovation initiatives to build a more compelling category offering across assigned brand(s), ensuring we have the right offerings in the categories in the right channels.
- Define the spaces where Gaia has the “right to win” and develop product strategies to grow market share and revenue.
- Collaborate with Integrative Marketing team and Channel Leaders (Ecommerce, Pro, D2C, Natural) to develop and execute high-impact product support plans. Example tactics may include: sales presentation materials, tradeshow presentation, educational assets, digital product positioning education, etc.
- Develop and execute product strategies to achieve or exceed the business objectives for innovation and portfolio growth for key categories.
- Leads the modernization of product visual identity with partnership from the creative design team. Example initiatives may include packaging redesign, website updates and other TBD initiatives.
- Partner with sales to create compelling assets to properly position products across channels and support sell-in opportunities.
- Design category and product trainings for internal teams (Sales and Customer Support) and external partners, as needed.
- Define and report on monthly dashboard KPIs (SKU life cycle, post launch analysis, configurations, accurate features/costs, cost evolution tracking, KOI-Kill/Optimize/Improve process)
- Ability to monitor portfolio performance and make strategic recommendations to the Executive team on product lifecycle decisions i.e. discontinues, optimizations, new products, etc.
- Owns Charter materials, recommendation, and presentation for assigned brand within the innovation network/gate process.
- Coordinate with Operations /Supply Chain on product roll outs and obsolescence/transitions.
- Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering or product development; MBA or other graduate degree preferred.
5 years of Marketing/Brand/Product Management experience, preferred experience in CPG.
3 years of wellness, supplement or functional food industry experience is mandatory.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Highly strategic, with a strong level of comfort with numbers, including syndicated sources like Spins, IRI, Nielsen, or Mintel.
Strong understanding of consumer trends in health & wellness space.
Demonstrated knowledge of P&Ls, with the ability to optimize and improve financial goals through product, customer, or company initiatives.
A passion for digging into the details and curiosity to uncover new insights and trends.
Strong track record of leading portfolio management, including partnership with R&D to bring innovations to life.
Strong data analysis and communication skills (both oral and written), with an emphasis on developing and presenting business cases using data and consumer-driven arguments.
A commitment to collaboration and team excellence.
Strong prioritization skills, knowing that the ability to say ‘no’ allows us to say ‘yes’ to bigger ideas.
An excitement for not only working in a fast-paced environment but leading in a fast-paced environment.
Location / Travel
It is preferred that this role is based at HQ in North Carolina (Mills River/Brevard) or near Charlotte, NC. Travel will be 15-30%, with the high end being required if the role is based outside of the HQ area, as travel back to the office will be required for key meetings.

Work Environment

Salary : $94,900 - $120,000
