What does a Budgeting and Planning Specialist do at GAINSCO?
- Responsible for creating and determining the company’s monthly planning and forecasting of underwriting expenses based on closure rate, driver, vehicle and policy count projections by state, channel, etc.
- Responsible for creating and analyzing monthly variance reports showing actual versus budget, forecast and historical performance to Senior Management.
- Responsible for quantifying the cause of the monthly variances as well as the change in monthly forecasts and budgets based on updated projections, assumptions and expense saving strategies you are proposing/recommending.
- Proactively guide business users in the budget or financial planning process, considering partner goals and supporting expense initiatives.
- Provide analysis to support the development of the company’s strategic plan.
What is required?
Education:
- Bachelor`s degree is required, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of Budgeting, Planning and/or Forecasting experience.
- Private Passenger Auto Insurance experience preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and Power BI.
Other skills and abilities:
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing timelines.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously with excellent follow-through.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with teammates and others, lead meetings and interact with increasingly higher levels of management to gather information and effectively present a summary of analytical results and recommendations.
- Excellent analytical or quantitative aptitude.
- Data-driven problem solving.
