Job description
Our Behavior Technicians work one on one with kids with Autism Spectrum Disorder to support them in developing important life skills. These may include areas such as developing communication skills, social skills, and daily living skills!After going through our RBT training program and learning everything you need to know about ABA therapy, you will implement individualized treatment and behavior plans with our clients under the direction and supervision of one of our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA).
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with your team members, ask questions, and learn as you go
- Get to know your clients for who they are and be fun and engaging with them
- Support acceptance of neurodiversity and model inclusive behavior
- Provide assent based care and listen to the wants and needs of your clients
- Build positive professional relationships with the clients’ families to collaborate in support
- Display empathy and compassion for all clients, families, and members of the Galliant team
- Use appropriate clinical procedures based on each client’s treatment plan
- Follow all components of behavior intervention plans in order to properly assist with reduction of challenging behavior
- Collect ongoing data on client’s performance throughout sessions
- Write objective summaries including, but not limited to, targets, progress, and areas of need in daily notes
- Effectively communicate with families regarding their child’s progress in accordance with directions from the BCBA
- Attend and participate in team meetings for each client with BCBA, parents, and additional team members
- Collaborate with educators and other outside support staff in accordance with directions from the BCBA
- Assist in ongoing parent and caretaker training in accordance with directions from the BCBA
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma
- Drivers license and reliable transportation
- CPR/First Aid or ability to obtain one (company will pay)
- A Bachelor's degree is nice but is not required
- An RBT certification is also good to have but if you do not have one we will help you obtain the RBT certification within the first 2 weeks of employment. We will also cover the cost of the training and testing!
Other Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of or an eagerness to learn about Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong learning skills & ability to learn remotely
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
