Market Development Manager-Control (Ohio/Virginia) - This position will be based in Alexandria VA, Arlington VA, Cleveland OH or Columbus OH and requires regular travel within your assigned territory. Occasional travel to company sites may be required as needed.

As our Market Development Manager-Control, you will strategically allocate your time each month to focus on high-opportunity on-premise accounts. Your ability to make informed, choice-ful decisions will be crucial in driving increased availability and visibility of our brands. You will also play a vital role in training and coaching broker sales representatives and district managers, ensuring they have the knowledge and tools needed to succeed.
Gathering market intelligence is a key aspect of this position. You will review market and product performance data, identifying and sharing opportunities with management to further enhance Gallo sales. Your insights will help us stay competitive and seize new opportunities. Additionally, you will support the Business Development Manager in maintaining consistent on-premise pricing and motivate broker management and sales teams through various initiatives, including program introductions and crew drives.
Your role will also involve coordinating with local Shopper Marketing teams, reinforcing Gallo standards, and collaborating with other company support areas. Embracing innovation and an entrepreneurial mindset, you will support digital marketing programs and leverage technology to monitor performance and direct broker personnel effectively. As a Gallo Ambassador, you will advocate for our brands, host events, and utilize social media to promote sales within your community.

- Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of Gallo winery or distributor sales reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of CPG sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 6 years of Gallo winery or distributor sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
- Candidate is required to have a valid driver’s license, a safe driving record and reliable vehicle (if applicable) at the time of hire. This position will undergo a motor vehicle check (MVR) to confirm a history of safe and responsible driving. If needed, candidate must obtain the appropriate state driver’s license based on the position’s location within 30 days of hire.
- Required to obtain liquor license as required by state/locality.
- Required to be 21 years of age or older.
- Required to travel by air and automobile up to 50% during the course of business
- Experience demonstrating strong leadership selling, time management, public speaking skills.
- Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
- Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of Gallo winery or distributor sales experience to include a prior rotation as a Spirits Development Specialist, Spirits Development Specialist Sr, Business Intelligence Analyst Sr, Market Development Manager, Market Development Manager Sr, or Account Manager 1; OR Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of external alcohol sales experience.
- Experience selling or marketing Gallo brands.
- Experience selling spirits or wine in the on-premise channel.
- Experience selling spirits or wine in a Control State environment.
- Hiring salary range posted: $84,645 - $133,700 / year
- Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
