The Active Systems division adheres to a 9/80 work schedule, with every other Friday off. In a two-week period, employees will work 9 hours per day, Monday through Thursday, the first week Friday is an 8-hour workday, while the second week Friday is off.

PRIMARY EMPLOYMENT OBJECTIVES

The Electronics (Hardware) Engineer II will be a key member within a small team of talented multi-discipline engineers of the Electronics Design team. The Electronics Engineer II will be a critical part of the team to design and build the next generation of smart protection products for extremely rugged markets. This role will give you the opportunity to work on creating leading edge new capabilities by converging a number of innovative new technologies in smart protective products.

SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

People:

  • Work closely with both the System Architecture and Project teams to design and produce new products and systems.
  • Collaborate with members of the team in design review.
  • Work in multi-disciplinary teams and with end-users to rapidly iterate designs.
  • Work with technical resources at key suppliers for external projects.
  • Sustain engineering support as needed.

Process:

  • Perform Electronics Engineering including Calculations, Simulations, Schematic Design, Footprint Design, Layout and Bring-up.
  • Develop and execute test plans according to the applicable standards.
  • Use experience and technical expertise to participate in process improvements and engineering excellence initiatives.
  • Operate engineering documentation software.
  • Troubleshoot designs and assist in fault finding.
  • Conduct system design and produce electronic assemblies prototypes.
  • Conduct board design and layout, board test and assist in final prototype assembly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Performance:

  • All electronic design/electronic engineering activities in the product development life cycle to create functional electronics sub-systems which meet requirements.
  • Utilize strong time management skills in accomplishing assigned tasks.
  • Communicate effectively to project management, and record their working time.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or electronics engineering technology, computer engineering technology, telecommunications technology or an equivalent.
  • 3 years of related work experience
  • Experience and understanding of high-speed digital signals (MIPI, LVDS)
  • Experience with embedded power supplies and PMICs.
  • Ability to solder and de-solder fine pitch components.
  • Ability to cut and strap prototypes.
  • Knowledge of, or experience, with preparing product and engineering technical specifications and product performance test procedures or plans.
  • Good working knowledge of communication circuits and protocols (e. g. I2C, Serial, etc.).
  • Strong analytic problem-solving skills, using suitable tools.
  • Ability to work with software to facilitate hardware testing.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout in Altium.
  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision.
  • Strong organization and documentation skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT (include physical requirements)

  • Office base and manufacturing environment.
  • Some travel may be required between Galvion facilities.
