PRIMARY EMPLOYMENT OBJECTIVES
This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic, superstar leader to spearhead the transformation of a promising business into an outstanding success. Galvion is seeking a seasoned expert to lead all aspects of the Armor business from product development through operations to customer delivery. The successful candidate, a results-driven, hands-on business executive, will thrive on using systematic and disciplined approaches to business management, cost improvement, sourcing and potentially automated manufacturing to overhaul the entire operation over the next two to three years. This position owns the Armor business from revenue through bottom line profitability.
Stemming from keen knowledge of general business as well as supply chain and manufacturing operations, the President will assess, develop, coach and lead the Armor team through their structured approach to problem solving, demonstrated process improvement skills, passion for data-driven decision making and measurable metrics and management talents. You possess a systems-driven mindset covering all aspects of the business, and can work with some matrixed functions located in multiple facilities. Effectiveness and efficiency will be measured by the business unit’s cash flow and P&L for which the President has full responsibility.
To create operational excellence, execute exceptional on-time delivery and maximize the business value, this position must drive the Armor product vision, product development including industrial design and engineering management, global supply chain and logistics, and inventory management for both global government contracted business and commercial production.
Equally comfortable in the boardroom or on the factory floor, the President, Armor understands technical specifications and has dealt with stringent customer requirements for quality, delivery and compliance, possibly in the defense or other highly technically demanding industry segments.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Engineering Degree and MBA is ideal
- 15 years of experience in Manufacturing Operations
- Experience having full responsibility of P&L for a business unit in a larger company or full business in a smaller environment
- Demonstrated success in process and systems improvements
- Deep level of demonstrated experience in Operations and Manufacturing
- Data-driven decision maker, able to develop KPIs and communicate objectives to the team
- Demonstrated successful management and leadership of 250 to 400 person business
- Ability to handle multi-faceted, operational changes while improving profitability
- Experience using and/or implementing ERP systems (including MRP) is essential
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Knowledge of, and experience with, new product development and product engineering
- Excellent problem solving and change management skills
- Financial acumen, budget preparation and management as well as cost improvement experience is a necessity
- Knowledge of composite manufacturing is a plus
- Knowledge of the defense industry is an asset; prior military experience a benefit
- Good computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PPT, Teams etc.)
WORK ENVIRONMENT (include physical requirements)
- Office & Manufacturing based environment.
- Focused locations in Newport, VT and Portsmouth, NH
- Travel required between Galvion facilities, in particular Portsmouth and Montreal.
