Working with general supervision, the Online Category Analyst, will support and drive the growth of the web and mobile retail ecosystems at GameStop. This role will be responsible for executing the merchandising objectives for a class/subclass of merchandise for the Omnichannel.  This includes, assisting the Sr. Online Merchant with creating and maintaining vendor relationships, marketing products, developing product line strategies and reporting financial results. This position also ensures that details and approvals are accounted for in the process of implementing the concept, aligning all cross functional team members and various GameStop vendors to drive growth.  This position will also work across organizational business units primarily collaborating with merchandising, logistics, marketing, and other internal teams to successfully drive projects from concept to online execution.  This role will interact with his or her supervisor several times a week, perhaps daily, to receive guidance and feedback. Some routine activities may require a supervisor’s advance approval.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Cross organizational collaboration to ensure delivery of business expectations and changing needs

  • Consult and provide recommendations to management, based on current and emerging product trends and supplier relationships

  • Partner with peers to define and manage product attributes to enhance the digital shopping experience and increase conversion

  • Partner with Site Merchandising to analyze customer shopping data to optimize site experience and maximize online sales

  • Analyze item/category performance, online basket analysis and trend opportunities

  • Facilitate relationships within Merchandising and Operations

  • Improve Site Findability; through Search & Browse optimization activities

  • Review KPI & web behavior metrics to generate data-driven insights & actions at category level

  • Manage product recommendation, basket builder, and trade-up strategies

  • Drive future online-only assortment expansion strategies, which includes supporting analyzing business terms with each supplier and selecting assortment selection to meet category level business performance

  • Analyze the e-commerce market to develop understandings of market trends and competitors’ strengths, weaknesses, and strategies

  • May serve as a key contributor on various other key projects. New supplier set-up – the merchant would negotiate the terms, once agreed upon would coordinate and review for accuracy all documents for approvals

  • Submit promotions for marketing vehicles

  • Analyze online promotion performance and its impact to sales and margin.  Recommend any changes that improve overall online business performance

  • Model the high level of customer service expected of all GameStop associates including, but not limited to, responding to voice mails and emails within organizationally defined timeframes, completing projects as committed, responding to others’ feedback appropriately, and making optimal use of organizationally limited resources by offering assistance to other functional teams when appropriate

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, merchandising, marketing, logistics, or related field

  • At least 3+ years of retail experience required; eCommerce and merchandising experience preferred

  • Proven experience in merchandising execution, visual presentation, inventory management, channel management, and supplier management

  • Proven proficiency in both a brick and mortar and online retail environment

  • Experience managing many vendors simultaneously

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Expert understanding of internal and environmental sales drivers

  • Expert communication, negotiation, and analytical skills

  • Proficient execution skills with the ability to negotiate pricing terms

  • Ability and willingness to work in a highly cross-functional environment

  • Ability to work independently

  • Proficient understanding of relevant products to make purchasing decisions

  • Proficient ability to meet demanding, evolving and potentially overlapping deadlines through proficient contingency planning

  • Proficient knowledge of Windows based business computers and Microsoft Office programs; specifically, Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, and Word

  • Proficient understanding of retail merchandising practices

Qualifications:
