What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse position at Garden State Urology, LLC?
Summary of Duties:
THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN OUR PEDIATRIC UROLOGY DIVISION IN MORRISTOWN, NJ
Responsible for providing primary care to patients, including assessment, treatment, care planning and medical care evaluation.
Essential Functions:
1. Obtains patient consent for care and ensures patient confidentiality.
2. Obtains and documents health history, information on chief complaint, vital signs, health risk factor and assess disease condition.
3. Provides patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care and federal/state laws and regulations.
4. Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers prescribed medications, and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response.
5. Refers to/consults with physicians, other health providers and community resources to prevent/resolve problems or concerns.
6. Educates patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
7. Documents patient assessment and intervention data using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices.
8. Participates in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes.
9. Tracks quality assurance data and monitors for acute and chronic care management.
10. Other duties may be assigned.
Skills / Experience:
1. Minimum one year of professional nursing experience. Clinical experience preferred.
2. Current state registered nurse license. Current CPR certificate.
3. Knowledge of nursing processes; health care systems, structure and functions; and community resources.
4. Understanding of health care technology, equipment and supplies. Familiarity with state law on nursing care, nurse practice guidelines and clinical policies and procedures.
5. Knowledge of wellness/illness, growth and development, human behavior psychosocial factors and alternative health care treatments.
6. Knowledge of chart/medical record documentation requirements and federal/state laws related to release of health care information.
7. Skill in patient triage in person and on the phone.
8. Ability to engage clients and families in the development and implementation of a care plan.
9. Ability to read and interpret physicians’ orders and notes from other providers.
10. Ability to calculate and administer drug dosage and injections and measure results.
Education / Requirements:
1. Registered Nurse license is the state of NJ.
2. Completion of nursing training from an accredited school or nursing.
3. BSN preferred.
Environmental / Working Conditions:
1. Medical exam/treatment rooms and medical offices.
2. Controlled lighting, acoustics, air quality and room temperature settings.
3. Environmental hazards may be unpredictable including exposure to communicable diseases and biohazards.
Physical Demands:
1. Involves standing, walking, bending, grasping, manipulating and squatting.
2. Occasional need to lift patient during transfer/turn process with or without assistance.
3. Occasional need to lift equipment up to 30 lbs.
4. Stress can be triggered by workload and complex cases.
