What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ladle Line Operator position at Gartland Foundry?
This position is night shift, 7:00 pm - 5:00 am Monday - Thursday. There will be 1-2 weeks of dayshift training.
Overtime is available, but in another department.
Summary Description:
Ensure that the ladles and pig drops are prepared and preheated daily. Preparations include lining and refractory repairs of ladles, spout ladle repairs, daily inspections and greasing bearings, bearing replacement and other maintenance of bull and pouring ladles and pig drops.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare ladles and pig drops to perform to production requirements
- Perform material handling functions through the use of forklifts and jib hoists
- Use impact tools, air chisels and hand tools as required
- Keep work area clean and perform housekeeping duties as necessary
- Follow and maintain safe work practices and procedures
- Assist in training co-workers
- Maintain a good attendance record
- Inspect own work for visual defects
- Record data as required on all internal documents
- Perform set-ups, attend to minor breakdowns and report other equipment conditions as necessary
- Perform any and all other job related tasks as assigned
Skills or Experience Required:
- Must have High School diploma or GED.
- Must be team-oriented.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions
- Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Must be focused and have strong attention to detail.
Other Position Demands or Requirements:
Must be able to use the following machines, tools, equipment, and/or work aids:
- Forklifts
- jib cranes
- hand/power tools including chisels
- tampers and drills.
