Must be commissioned through the state of Delaware
Starting at $25/hr. if commissioned through Delaware.
Minimum of two 12 hour shifts per month, either 7am-7:30pm or 7pm-7:30am
Summary of Job: The Constable is responsible for providing a safe, recovery environment that ensures respect and dignity using a recovery coaching approach. The Constable will demonstrate non-violent verbal de-escalation skills at all times and uses physical hold interventions as a last resort, to ensure safety and ensure involuntary guests remain on facility premises as indicated.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Provides a welcoming environment for individuals using the Recovery Coaching process.
•Utilizes “No Force First” philosophy, i.e., non-violent, verbal de-escalation skills.
•Provides the safe transport of individuals as directed.
•Assists staff in reviewing and securing individual and visitor personal items.
•Ensures the safety and security of individuals within the facility.
•Provides direct support to all involuntary individuals during the evaluation process.
•Documents relevant and required information and services provided.
•Understands and adheres to RI International compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.
•Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:

•Successful completion of Peer Employment Training thus obtaining Certification as a Peer Support Specialist required.
•Ability to problem solve.
•Knowledge of all applicable code governing the power, duties and jurisdiction of a Constable.
•Knowledge of Title 16, 24-hour hold process.
•Prior law enforcement experience within the last five (5) years or prior employment as a Constable.
•Must meet the minimum training and experience standards established by the Board of Examiners of Constables.
•High School Diploma or equivalent.
Driving Requirements:
•If driving is required for this position, must meet all requirements outlined in RI International driving policy.
•If not qualified to drive per driving policy, a Non-Driver Attestation form must be signed.
A Direct Service Competency Checklist must be completed as part of the new hire onboarding process.
Physical Demands:
May include work close to the eyes and substantial motions of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, handling, finger dexterity; eye-hand-foot coordination, use of corrected vision; color vision; use of auditory senses. May be required to lift up to twenty (20) pounds.
Work Environment
May work in an office environment or behavioral health facility. May have contact with individuals who are agitated and/or confused. Work may include travel throughout the geographic region.
