Planner
Gates Associates is an award winning Urban Design / Landscape Architectural firm. Our mission is to “get people outside” to make life better.
We are seeking a smart, versatile, committed, aesthetically oriented individual to join our team. You will work collaboratively to develop city wide PROS (Park, Recreation and Open Space plans) design guidelines for streetscapes and specific plans. You will need to apply both visionary and reality-based thinking in strategic planning efforts that advance design quality, community health, social engagement and climate resiliency.
Responsibilities
- Research and analyze social, economic and demographic community characteristics
- Clearly write technical reports and planning studies
- Assist with public involvement efforts including public meetings, web-based engagement, and community outreach strategies
- Collaboratively work with client and consultant team to synthesis information and develop recommendations
- Proactively provide design and graphic support for planning efforts
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s in City and Regional Planning, Urban Planning, Geography, Landscape Architecture, or related field
- Demonstrated understanding of the planning process
- Exhibits strong initiative and the ability to work independently with little or no supervision
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and multiple simultaneous projects
- Strong professional ethics, leadership skills, accountability, and decision-making capabilities
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication, organization, and analytic skills
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Adobe Creative Suite, GIS, or similar products
