Gatesville Intermediate School
2023-2024 School Year
Work with school faculty and staff, students, parents, and community to plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program. Counsel students to fully develop each student’s academic, career, personal, and social abilities and address the needs of general and special population students.
Oversee the campus assessment program, maintaining inventory of secure documents, inputting data, and training staff members to align with the state's testing program.
Job Requirements
Education/Certification/License/Experience:
- Master’s degree in guidance counseling preferred
- Valid Texas counselor certificate, be eligible for an emergency permit [To be eligible for Counselor permit, applicant must be enrolled in a counseling program and have (1) A valid Texas teacher certificate at the level of assignment, (2) 12 semester hours in Guidance and Counseling approved by the program.]
- Two years classroom teaching experience
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa in the United States required
Special Knowledge and Skills:
- Guide individuals and groups of students to develop education plans and career awareness
- Teach campus developmental guidance curriculum consistent with district’s guidance program plan and tailored to campus needs
- Manage campus assessments as the campus testing coordinator
- Counsel individual students and small groups with presenting needs and concerns
- Consult parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant people to enhance their work with students
- Participate in planning, implementation, and evaluation of campus standardized testing program and maintain confidentiality of student assessment
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards and model behavior that is professional, and responsible
- Compile, maintain, and file all required physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents

Salary : $51,600 - $65,400
