POSITION SUMMARY:
Our Railcar Maintenance shop located at Moose Jaw is looking for an Engineering student desiring to expend their technical and professional skills in a real-world setting. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in a variety of ways by exploring different continuous improvement projects and collaborating with multiple departments. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about the world of transportation and railcar maintenance.
Responsibilities
YOUR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support operation management staff in the establishment of improvement initiatives
- Participate in developing a new railcar finishing building
- Establish standard and procedures as required
- Contribute to improvement opportunity research, in particular through regular interactions and contact with production workers
- Help to identify areas where KANBAN can be established
- Helping on 5S projects and assist sustainability
- Support supervisors and shop staff for using computer stations, Microsoft office products like Excel and SharePoint and LCA
- Assist in developing further capital projects

Qualifications
WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE:
- Student pursuing a Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Civil Engineering, in Operations management or Business administration and that have completed at least 2 years of studies.
- Excellent knowledge of the Office Suite
- Excellent communication skills (you will be working as part of a team in a unionized environment)
- An individual who is independent, organized and very good at planning
