Career Preparation Specialist
The Career Preparation Period Specialist position provides instructional support for a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor, Human Learning Systems. The Job Corps program is a federally funded residential training program. Job Corps’ mission is to educate and train youth ages 16 -24 for successful careers in the nation’s fastest-growing industries.
Summary of Duties: The Career Preparation Period Specialist provides instruction during the Career Preparation Phase of enrollment. Assists students in becoming acclimated to the Job Corps Program and the Center. Works with the team members to assist students in gaining employability skills. Puts into place all systems necessary to meet any special needs a student might have. Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport. Records daily attendance in the Center Information System (CIS). Coordinates enrollment requirements in conjunction with the Career Counselor to meet the Department of Labor (DOL) requirements of CPP.
Description of Duties:
- Develops effective student educational experiences that engage and stimulate student learning.
- Adequately prepares for instruction. Integrates math, reading, and writing concepts with employability, and Career Success Standards skills with lesson planning.
- Develops and implements curriculum and training outlines necessary to attain student, Center, and DOL goals.
- Utilizes Job Corps guidelines and subject course guides.
- Has an accurate syllabus for the course and completes lesson plans as required?
- Creates and maintains training records for each subject area.
- Conducts classes that explain test preparation and study skills.
- Conducts assessments to determine areas of strength and difficulty, using this information to prescribe individual plans.
- Identifies appropriate materials.
- Designs instruction to meet individual student needs.
Credentials:
Education: Must possess High School Diploma or Equivalency
Certification Licenses Registration: State Driver's Licenses
