GCI's Project Coordinator, Sr will work as an important part of the project team working closely with Project or Construction Managers will support and ensure projects are completed on time and in budget. Responsible for the coordination of inventory and status updates, tracking materials upon order dates and organizing required project documentation. Support users of central repository database in site management, compliance, and workflow management. Conduct data validation/audits on project and site information. Arranges schedules and regulates flow of work within or between organizational units or businesses. Responsible for updating daily and weekly trackers and reporting on them. Work with site acquisition, engineering, and contractors to meet deadlines. Ensure regulatory & company documentation is complete and retained following company compliance and policy.
Essential Duties:
Provide support to project/construction management; function, review project proposals, ensure projects adhere to contract language, and issue and track project amendment documentation. Communicate any issues, problems, or additional information to project managers and project stakeholders proposing possible solutions. Monitor and evaluate project timeline and activity and report on progress to project teams.
Additional Job Requirements: At a senior level this position works under minimal supervision. Must be able to work most complex and diverse duties meeting deadlines and operating constraints. Must be able to make independent decisions and provide technical direction for resolution for junior teams. Will collaborate and provide support to project/construction management teams, review project proposals ensure projects adhere to contract language, and issue and track project amendment documentation. Communicate any issues, problems, or additional information to project managers and project stakeholders and propose solutions. Monitor and evaluate project timeline and activity and report on progress to project managers, construction managers, and leadership teams. Support Project Managers and Construction Managers in implementing moderate to more complex projects, as well as run small, simple, or rapid projects which do not require a Project Manager.
- Track & document project progress and operational issues for reporting purposes. Checks master schedule and work orders, establishes priorities, and changes schedule according to projects, work order specifications, established priorities, and availability or capability of workers, parts, material, machines, and equipment.
- Under close supervision will support multiple Project Managers and Construction Managers with budget and scheduling expertise, and information required to properly manage projects. Perform technical support including project scheduling and planning, earned value management, budget review/cost analysis, and change of scope impact analysis.
- Support and define project scopes with internal and external customers and oversee and participate in procurement of materials.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of five years’ experience in office administration, project coordination, inventory, warehousing, telecom installations or related field required.
- Experience within a telecommunication industry preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Business Management, Project, or Construction/Operations Management, or related field desired.
- Or a combination of relevant work experience and/or education sufficient to perform the duties may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis.
Certifications: Industry specific certifications are highly valued and contribute toward education.
Desired: Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)

Physical Requirements: Physical effort may include stooping, kneeling, touching, feeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Clarity of vision to see near, mid-range, and color. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
Working Conditions: The work area must be quiet and free of distractions. Lighting must be adequate and without glare. Distracting noises should be kept to a minimum. The employee’s desk must be adequate, designed to safely accommodate the equipment the employee must use, e.g., computer, printer, keyboard, monitor etc. The employee must have reliable connectivity to the internet to access GCI via VPN. Employee workstation must comply with GCI’s ergonomics standards.
The company and its subsidiaries operate in a 24/7 environment providing critical services to Alaskans and may need to respond to public health and safety matters or other business emergencies. Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the core business hours to respond to the immediate emergency.
