GCI's Data Scientist IV will perform complex analyses requiring combinations of potentially large datasets and machine learning techniques. Consult with business units to identify opportunities for revenue generation, cost reduction, and improved compliance. Identify internal and external data sources required to deliver solutions to apply to those opportunities. Manipulate raw data to create useful feature sets. Use machine learning techniques to analyze data and develop business insights and recommendations. Present findings to business unit stakeholders in a way that facilitates action and improvement in business performance. Use DevOps and MLOps techniques to automate solutions and ensure quality. Present data through engaging presentations and visualizations capable of use by stakeholders. Continuously improve technical and business skills through experience, education, and certification.

Additional Job Requirements: This is an expert level position for an experienced working engineer. The DS4 is an expert in data science project work and has successfully and independently delivered many complex and highly impactful solutions to stakeholders. The DS4 is a player/coach who, while contributing directly to solutions development, coordinates cross-functional teams to complete complex projects. The DS4 does not require project supervision and uses his or her strategic acumen to identify projects of great impact to the business. The DS4 manages and guides more junior data scientists in his or her role as a project leader. The DS4 contributes to the budgeting and planning process for the team and uses business case and accounting skills to ensure project value.

The company and its subsidiaries operate in a 24/7 environment providing critical services to Alaskans and may need to respond to public health and safety matters or other business emergencies. Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the core business hours to respond to the immediate emergency. As such, you will be requested to provide emergency after hours contact numbers, to include your home and cell phone numbers if you have those services.
Driving Requirements (if applicable): Must possess a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, satisfactory driving record. Use of personal vehicle may be required.

- Minimum of ten years of professional experience in data science, data engineering, or other engineering/analytic positions that require a combination of coding and business analysis.
- Master of Science Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science and Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field required.
- PhD preferred.
