What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jr. Splunk Engineer position at GCyber?
GCyber is hiring an Jr. Splunk Engineer to analysis live date feeds, create enterprise security reports, dashboards, and/or other security visualizations. This role involves the use, administration, and maintenance of enterprise Splunk systems. This role is for a high visibility Executive Branch customer.
As the Jr. Splunk Engineer, you will:
- Analyze security monitoring and reporting requirements and define, design, develop, and maintain/improve Splunk dashboards, reports, alerts etc.
- Administer Splunk system - planning, reviewing, testing, and executing patches and upgrades.
- Provide operations monitoring of Splunk system to enable proactive issue identification, response, and resolution.
- Collaborate with peers to ensure reports, dashboards, and visualizations meet the needs of key enterprise stakeholders.
- Recommend and execute improvements to the Splunk system with growth and scalability in mind to optimize performance, stability, reliability, and agility.
- Plan and execute the integration of standard and custom data sources into the Splunk system.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance
- DoD 8570 IAT Level III certification requirements (CASP , CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH, CCSP)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent degree
- 7 years direct expertise in the IT specialty
- Hands-on experience using, administering, and maintaining a Splunk system or other enterprise security monitoring tools (Splunk, Elastic, Qradar, Logrhythm, ScienceLogic, Kibana, Palantir, etc.)
- Experience with scripting languages such as Pearl or Python or Bash etc. is preferred
- Customer-oriented with excellent issue follow-through and resolution abilities.
- Excellent analytical skills
- Excellent written and oral communication, and presentation skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, strong work ethic, and self-motivated.
