Roles and Responsibilities
The CNC Specialist is part of our advanced Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) Development Lab in our Supply Chain division. This role applies hands-on experience to support development and production activities related to the critical CMC composite machining processes.
Accountable for at-point problem solving on shop floor for machining / inspection operations.
Transfer NPI process to shop floor in preparation for low-rate development production.
Accountable for OJT of technicians for machining / Inspection operations of CMC product.
CMM development emphasis for inspection at the source operations.
Define and control production process including tooling and equipment. Validate design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools, or equipment. Includes Manufacturing Engineers.
Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in Manufacturing)
Desired Characteristics
- Advanced Siemens NX CAD/CAM manufacturing experience
- Experience with 3D tooling design and build a plus
- Deep experience with CNC programming
- Strong background in CNC equipment operation
- Fanuc and Siemens machine control experience
- Grinding and milling experience a plus
