Job Description Summary
The Professional Engineer/Technologist will be responsible for inspection technology in Cincinnati area for the chief manufacturing inspection team. This position involves both quality and technical leadership of inspection personnel and processes within the GE manufacturing facilities and associated suppliers. Roles and Responsibilities
- Create inspection programs for coordinate measurement machines (CMM) and other measurement machines for manufacturing, quality and engineering organizations, primarily using PCDMIS programming software.
- Gather, analyze and report on products being manufactured.
- Seek out new inspection technology to improve throughput and quality of part
- Drive standardization throughout the supply chain
- Provide training of various known software’s
- Inspection technical support to the shops
- Industrialization of inspection processes
- Coordination and implementation of inspection activities
- Performing site assessments and leadership in supply chain
- Maintaining processes and equipment needed to support next generation manufacturing processes
- Work closely with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering organizations meeting all business commitments
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in inspection)
- Minimum of 3 years of inspection experience
Desired Characteristics
- Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing, Computer Science
- PCDMIS CMM software programming; Modus, Polyworks, Calypso a plus
- Knowledge of NX or other CAD software with the ability to open models, navigate, pull data from the models, create drawings, basic modeling and export data for use
- Strong PC skills; Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Knowledge of various CMM machines: Hexagon, Zeiss, Wenzel, etc.
- Understanding and the application of GD&T
- Experience in the off-line development of programs and on-site installation
- Experience in the inspection of aerospace hardware
- Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification or extensive quality experience
- Experience in scripting and the use of variables in the creation of programs.
- Experience in the use of scanning systems to capture component geometry
