What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Service Representative position at GE?
Role Summary:
The Military Field Service Representative will provide on-site assistance to US Military organizations in accordance with contractual objectives associated with the maintainability of GE Aviation’s FA-18 Generator Converter Unit (GCU) at the US Navy I-Level Maintenance Departments. In this role, you will work within defined parameters to resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.Essential Responsibilities:
You will also act as the primary liaison between the GE factory and your assigned customer base.- Provide assigned customer base, in person and remotely, interpretation of data and technical assistance
- Provide technical assistance and on the job training to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair, troubleshooting and maintenance of GE Aviation Systems equipment located at customer's sites
- Respond to requests for emergency repairs and services to troublesome equipment
- Develop and further grow technical knowledge and expertise, currently recognized by industry standards for engineering ability
- Maintain knowledge of applicable product line warranties to assist in warranty administration
- Use prepared data to instruct both internal and external training programs as required to impart and disseminate product knowledge
- Perform administrative functions; such as writing various technical reports, ordering materials, and preparing time / expense sheets in accordance with company guidelines and contractual requirements
- Maintain knowledge of the report system to the extent required for timely and accurate input of field information
- Maintain strong safety mentality to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE safety standards
- Actively monitor and maintain assigned equipment capability
- Actively pursue cost avoidance measures by reducing No Fault Found returns and Externally Induced Faults of assigned equipment
- Provide guidance for trend monitoring and in-service performance analysis
- Assist customer with logistic tasks including work scope reviews, troubleshooting, data recording and hardware tracking and availability
- Apply Six Sigma analytical tools to assist the customer with root cause analysis and internal production goals
- Serve as program level liaison between customer and factory personnel related to maintenance, logistical and production level requirements
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a field service / maintenance position as a Military Field Service Representative)
- Minimum of 3 years combined experience in: Aircraft System Troubleshooting and Repair
- I-Level component troubleshooting and aircraft system/component repair capability

- Validated analytical and quality improvement ability
- Shown strength in repair troubleshooting, shop operations and testing of assigned programs / hardware
- Able to work with and make formal presentations to all levels of maintenance, engineering and management
- Project Management Experience
- Proven ability to lead and influence GE customers and peers
- Possess knowledge of the learning process and how to transfer technical knowledge to less qualified personnel
- Ability to express thoughts in both oral and written communications
- Possess the ability to work independently, without technical guidance to perform all required work tasks
- Possess a high degree of tact, subtlety and ability to work and collaborate harmoniously with customer personnel
