The GE Aerospace Engineering Team is looking for experienced mechanical design engineers who are ready to work on the fastest growing engine in Aviation history, GE9X. The GE9X engine is forecasted to enter service in 2025, creating a generational opportunity to be part of a team introducing a widebody aircraft and engine system to the field.Better fuel burn. As part of the Lifecycle Engineering team, you will be part of the mechanical design team responsible for the hardware design within your assigned engine module, with teammates responsible for the hardware from the front to the back of the engine.
The GE9X Lifecycle Engineering Cost & Ramp team is responsible for the cost attainment and ramp execution as our product line prepares for Entry into Service in 2025. The Cold Section team is responsible for the fan, high pressure compressor, and mechanical systems hardware, and this role will be aligned by commodity across modules, providing a breadth of opportunity for this role to contribute to the product outcomes.
In this role, you will have some autonomy to focus on the execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. As a senior professional staff engineer on the Cold Section team, your judgement will be paramount in the success of the desired team outcomes which will require you to have the ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters with advice from your peers.
A job at this level you will work closely with cross functional partners to develop in-depth knowledge and expertise to make technically sound decisions with some level of evidence. You will act in the capacity of an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills, execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.

- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products
- Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
- Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
- Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
- This role will transition to Production Technologies as each Part Family achieves design maturity and configuration stability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Mechanical Design function
